BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Manages Member Communications with Pitney Bowes Business Insight
TROY, N.Y., Oct 13, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina manages a complex array of digital and physical communications to its members each year. Whether via USPS mail, email or fax, each health care-related communication, such as an explanation of benefits, must not only be highly personalized but also accurate and adhere to federal privacy laws and regulations.
In order to deliver hundreds of thousands of communications each day through a high-speed document- and mail-production facility, the organization was looking to transfer 65,000 document templates to a new system using software that would provide a smooth turnover. Software and services from Pitney Bowes Business Insight helped BlueCross seamlessly change over from an outdated interactive document-generation system to a new system, migrating thousands of templates in a matter of months, not years.
"Our dynamic customer communications must adhere to strict privacy requirements and empower our customer representatives with appropriate data from our systems," said Carol Wallace, a BlueCross vice president. "Pitney Bowes Business Insight software worked well with our data sources and enterprise content management systems and web services."
"We are pleased to be able to help BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina enable lifetime customer relationships," said John O'Hara, president, Pitney Bowes Business Insight. "Excellence in personalization, customer data and compliance are hallmarks of our customer communications management solutions."
BlueCross chose Pitney Bowes Business Insight largely because the vendor met its three specific technical requirements. First, the solution supported a document-generation engine for its millions of high-volume batch documents. Second, the solution supported its interactive templates, easily integrating into its core systems; and, third, the solution supported a post-processing engine for the print and mail environment.
S.C. BlueCross is a leader in the health care transaction-processing industry. Operating one of the most sophisticated data centers in the country and processing more than 1 billion claims each year, the company provides technology and back-office benefit administration solutions to numerous Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, federal health care programs, and group benefit plans.
