La Poste's Jean-Paul Bailly Wins Industry Leadership Honors at the World Mail Awards
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2007--Jean-Paul Bailly, CEO of the French Post Office, La Poste, was honored with the Industry Leadership Award at the 2007 World Mail Awards in London. The award, which is sponsored by Pitney Bowes (NYSE:PBI), was presented to Bailly by Michael Critelli, Executive Chairman of Pitney Bowes.
Critelli said: "We have been involved in the World Mail Awards since its inception and are very pleased to sponsor the Industry Leadership Award. This award recognizes individuals who have contributed to the success of our industry and helped shape the future of global postal systems.
Bailly was recognized for engaging stakeholders, including major labor unions, in La Poste's Transformation Plan, thus ensuring a complete "social dialogue."
This far-reaching plan to reorganize the network and increase the number of products and services sold by La Poste included defining the network of post offices and other outlets based on the needs of residential and business customers. New customer-focused products and services further enhanced La Poste in the market.
In his acceptance remarks, Bailly said the award was "dear to my heart, as well as to all of those at La Poste."
The winner of the Industry Leadership Award was selected through an independent judging panel consisting of six distinguished individuals in the postal and mail industry, five of whom are previous winners of the same honor. This year's panel included:
- Helge Israelsen, CEO of Post Danmark
- Graeme John, Managing Director of Australia Post
- John Potter, Postmaster General and CEO of the United States Postal Service,
- William Tan, former CEO of Singapore Post
- Elmar Toime, former CEO of New Zealand Post
- Klaus Zumwinkel, Chairman of Deutsche Post World Net
The non-voting chair of the judging panel was David Treworgy, a partner in the Postal Industry Sector of IBM Global Business Services. Treworgy facilitated the deliberations of the judging panel but did not participate in the evaluation process.
The other two finalists for the 2007 Industry Leadership Award were also recognized at the ceremony. They are John Allen, CEO of New Zealand Post, and Anton Wais, Chairman and CEO of the Austrian Post Office.
