Pitney Bowes to Distribute WorkOut Internet Billing System Worldwide; Leading Document Messaging Vendor Forms Alliance with @Work Technologies
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 27, 1999--Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI), a $4.2 billion leader in the informed mail and message management industry, today announced it has entered into a software distribution agreement with @Work Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) software. The agreement defines a relationship under which Pitney Bowes will distribute @Work Technologies' WorkOut(TM) through its sales channels worldwide. In addition to distributing WorkOut, Pitney Bowes has incorporated WorkOut into its Digital Document Delivery(TM) (D3) architecture.
By using D3 and WorkOut, billers and service providers can
implement Internet billing in a fraction of the time and cost that it
would take by using other methods. The D3/WorkOut architecture
provides comprehensive Internet billing functionality, ranging from
data extraction, print stream parsing, bill document management,
customer service, enrollment, notification, payment processing and
visual tools for rapid Web site creation and administration. In
addition, WorkOut's distributed and platform-independent architecture
makes it the most flexible and scalable system of its kind.
An important feature provided by WorkOut is its ability to
integrate with the Pitney Bowes Digital Document Delivery (D3) system.
D3 enables high-volume mailers to use their existing legacy billing
and statement applications to format documents for delivery via the
Internet, E-mail, facsimile or postal mail. D3 is one component of
pb.commander(TM), Pitney Bowes' comprehensive suite of Document
Factory Solutions that include hardware and software products,
professional services and financing options to help customers create,
manage, manufacture, distribute, and remit documents in hard copy
and/or digital format. WorkOut is used by D3 to enable organizations
to seamlessly add Web presentation capabilities to their production
mail operation.
"We've been utilizing the WorkOut platform ourselves for over six
months." Said David Gardner, Chief Systems Architect of Pitney Bowes'
D3 Solutions. "Our experience as a licensee has given us complete
confidence in both the WorkOut product and the people that stand
behind it."
Jim Flynn, @Work's CEO, commented "Organizations that need to
implement EBPP services are faced with the challenge of integrating
Web-based document delivery with their existing operations. What this
agreement means for our customers is that they can get the best
Internet billing functionality from Pitney Bowes, a company that has
over 75 years of experience in document delivery and a proven ability
to implement high-volume production messaging systems."
