Pitney Bowes Joins the U.S. Postal Service to Introduce PC Postage
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 1999--
ClickStamp(TM) Plus and ClickStamp(TM) Online, Two PC Postage
Solutions Developed by Pitney Bowes, Demonstrated Live
Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI) joined the U.S. Postal Service in an event today to introduce PC Postage, including demonstrations by Pitney Bowes of their ClickStamp(TM) Plus and ClickStamp(TM) Online.
Pitney Bowes has developed two PC Postage solutions for the
marketplace. ClickStamp(TM) Plus and ClickStamp(TM) Online allow
customers to print postage using your own PC and desktop printer,
providing access to postage, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The
two solutions give small business owners the choice to either download
postage via modem to a "postage vault" attached to the PC using
ClickStamp(TM) Plus, or, for those with Internet access, to download
postage over the Internet using ClickStamp(TM) Online.
"We know that when it comes to small business, one size does not
fit all. Both ClickStamp(TM) Plus and ClickStamp(TM) Online bring
together advanced patented technologies created by Pitney Bowes with a
thorough understanding of the needs of today's small businesses," said
Kevin Weiss, President of Pitney Bowes Office Direct, a division of
Pitney Bowes focused on small business solutions. "This combination of
innovative product development and market knowledge helps Pitney Bowes
respond to customer needs with total solutions."
"In fact, small business knows that getting the job done means
more than putting a stamp on an envelope," adds Weiss. "Small business
is about attracting and retaining customers, paying the bills, getting
the message out, building the business and more." Pitney Bowes is the
only company to offer a full suite of mail, marketing and financial
services designed for the way small business really works.
The suite of solutions will be marketed under the new PitneyWorks
brand. In addition to ClickStamp(TM) Plus and ClickStamp(TM) Online,
the PitneyWorks suite of digital, PC and Internet-enabled products
includes ValueShip(TM), an Internet shipping service, Target
Prospects, an Internet-based service to acquire mailing lists for new
customers, and DirectNET(TM), Pitney Bowes' "one stop" Internet-based
printing and mailing service. Pitney Bowes also offers the highly
successful Personal Post(TM) digital postage meter, which uses a
built-in phone modem for downloading postage by phone, in less than 30
seconds, available 24 hours a day.
Small business owners can also benefit from the family of
financial products and services that Pitney Bowes offers. In addition
to the PitneyWorks(SM) Capital Line Account, PitneyWorks(SM) Business
Rewards(SM) Visa(R) and PitneyWorks(SM) Business Visa(R), customers
can earn free postage by putting their advanced postage deposits to
work for them with the PitneyWorks(SM) Reserve Account while the
PitneyWorks(SM) Purchase Power(SM) allows customers to order now and
pay later for postage and supplies. All of these solutions are
designed specifically with the small business owner in mind to help
improve cash flow management.
