Pitney Bowes Launches Delivery Management Centers for Managing Inbound and Outbound Mail and Parcels

STAMFORD, Conn., Jul 23, 2001 /PRNewswire/ --

Customizable Solutions Enable Customers to Save Money and Increase Efficiency

Pitney Bowes (NYSE: PBI) Global Mailing Systems, the world leader in mail and document management technologies, introduced three new Delivery Management Centers. Each of these solutions couples a reliable hardware platform with advanced software that enables customers to manage all of their mail and parcels -- inbound, outbound and intra-company. The result is a reduction in shipping costs, the elimination of manual processes, and a heretofore unmatched level of control.

"More than 7.2 billion shipments will be handled by an expedited service this year alone, so managing these shipments -- both incoming and outgoing -- presents a significant opportunity for cost savings and should be a top priority for every business. A misplaced parcel can cost money and even customers. There's no need to take these risks when our Delivery Management Centers provide the controls needed for today's busy mail centers to avoid these pitfalls," stated Tim Bates, Vice President, Marketing, Pitney Bowes Mailing Systems.

For business mailers, information management is the charge of the day. It's critical to have the information available that enables the selection of the best carrier (by rate and service level), tracking of outbound materials, and an immediate response when the boss asks, "where's that incoming delivery that I am expecting?" The new Delivery Management Centers provide the tools necessary to manage and control mail and parcel deliveries from end to end.

With escalating features and benefits, all three Delivery Management Centers provide an easy-to-use, integrated solution. By configuring different versions of Ascent(TM) Software (multi-carrier solutions for managing outbound shipments), different desktop interfaces (either ShipRequest(TM) or Desktop Express(TM) Software) combined with Arrival(TM) Software (tracking and management tool for inbound deliveries) the solutions can be customized to meet the unique needs of any mailers. All of the centers enable users to easily:

     * Prepare packages for shipping from the desktop.
     * Shop for the best carrier rates.
     * Ship and track outbound mail and parcels.
     * Track and manage important incoming materials -- "desk to desk."
