Pitney Bowes Launches Integrated Web Portal; New Infrastructure Increases Customer Convenience and Usability
STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2001--Pitney Bowes Inc., (NYSE: PBI) the leader in global, integrated mail, messaging and document management, today announced the launch of the company's new unified e-commerce portal www.pitneybowes.com. Linking customers across all Pitney Bowes product and service offerings, the new web site offers a single point of interaction for information, transactions, communication and support, and provides a scalable foundation for Pitney Bowes' growing e-business offerings.
"When developing the site, our goal was to present a unified Pitney Bowes face to our customers, even though our product and service offerings are spread across separate business units," stated J.J. Kennedy, director, Web Strategy and Development. "To do this, we organized web content to reflect specific solution sets that are easily recognizable and searchable for the customer, irrespective of where those solutions exist in our various businesses."
For example, customers interested in outsourcing some of their mission critical business processes will now find that Business Recovery Services, Litigation Copy Services, and Mail Management are all under the Outsourcing Services section. Customers interested in billing and statement production will find a host of solutions that range from mail creation and meter products, to online billing solutions, like Pitney Bowes' docSense.
A key factor in the development of the site, which went live on January 3rd, was the need to create a flexible architecture that could be updated easily and would support advanced user features. Built on the Broadvision platform, the site will link global locations and businesses and different languages, allow customers to conduct secure online transactions and purchases Pitney Bowes equipment as well as customize how they view Pitney Bowes information.
Pitney Bowes utilized the world-class services of outside agencies including Roundarch and Frankfurt Balkind. Roundarch provided the necessary expertise through its project management and leadership to seamlessly move the content and technical capabilities of the previous corporate portal onto the new Broadvision platform. Frankfurt Balkind, a unique cross-disciplinary communications agency, helped create the site strategy, information architecture, user-interface, graphic design, and content areas. "We are very proud of the look and functionality of the new site," stated Harriett Levin, executive vice president, Frankfurt Balkind. "The result is a web site that solidifies the brand by expanding the audiences' understanding of Pitney Bowes and its products and services, which will positively impact the company's bottom line."
