Pitney Bowes Launches PitneyPay, An End-to-End Payment Solution for Business-to-Business Transactions

STAMFORD, Conn., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI) today announced the launch of PitneyPay, a comprehensive Internet payment solution, that offers eMarketplaces and exchanges versatile payment options and improved user interface to meet growing market demand. PitneyPay provides users with a variety of convenient options including, a direct pay service -- ACH (Automated Clearing House) Debit, for securely sending or receiving payments online immediately, an escrow service, or any combination of the two. Additionally, simultaneous payments can now be dispensed to multiple vendors associated with the transaction through an integrated payment routing system.

PitneyPay incorporates the functionality of its innovative web-enabled escrow service, PitneyEscrow, with even greater funds management flexibility including tailoring the percentage of the total payment (0-100%) held in escrow versus the percentage (0-100%) of the payment to be completed immediately, or on agreed upon future date, via ACH Debit. The addition of ACH Debit enables buyers and sellers to transfer funds from a wide range of checking, savings or investment accounts expanding the traditional form of escrow service into a more versatile online payment system.

The Company also announced that it has formed strategic alliances with Heavynet, LLC and USA Flower Exchange to integrate the PitneyPay solution into their respective marketplaces. PitneyPay will serve as the exclusive online payment option for all transaction payments.

"PitneyPay's enhanced functionality enables us to serve the broad range of online marketplaces," said Michael S. Ryan, Vice President of Pitney Bowes Capital Services. "With PitneyPay's new transactional capabilities, we are able to offer our customers a more complete payment solution, keeping all transactions online and enabling online marketplaces to track all transactions and commissions due."

USA Flower Exchange plans to integrate the PitneyPay solution into their marketplace by the end of the month, beginning with the escrow solution and evolving towards full payment transactional capabilities later this year. "In selecting a payment solution for our marketplace, we sought a flexible, yet secure product," said Alex Lemus, President & CEO of USA Flower Exchange. "With PitneyPay, we increase the value proposition to buyers and sellers by providing them with a completely on-line, end-to-end exchange service. We are pleased with our customers' response to PitneyPay, and are enthusiastic about the range of payment solutions in combination with it."

Scott Beveridge, President and CEO of Heavynet, LLC, stated, "Over the past year, our company has grown to amass one of the largest exchanges for the buying and selling of heavy goods, most notably in the drilling and construction arenas. Our marketplace hosts over 5,000 pieces of equipment for sale, most of which are large-ticket items. As such, we sought out a trusted third party with proven expertise in the financial services arena and technology leadership in online payment solutions. We selected Pitney Bowes due to its strong heritage and believe the PitneyPay solution will provide security to our community of buyers and sellers looking to conduct business over the Internet."

Another key function of PitneyPay is the addition of a multiple payments router, which can automatically and seamlessly dispense outgoing payments directly to shippers, inspectors, appraisers, and other parties associated with the transaction. This function saves buyers and sellers the resources needed to issue separate payments, while enabling exchanges to facilitate, monitor and track all transactions, ultimately providing them with the tools to keep the transactions online. In addition, with new pull-down menus and an impressive screen layout, PitneyPay provides customers with an easy-to-use and improved payment experience.

Pitney Bowes Capital Services is continuing to develop its suite of financial products to best serve the changing needs of our customers and their markets.
