Pitney Bowes Named to '100 Best Corporate Citizens' list for Eighth Consecutive Year

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2007--Business Ethics Magazine (now CRO Magazine) today announced that Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI - News) has been named to the "100 Best Corporate Citizens" list. The nationally recognized list is an indicator of best practices in corporate responsibility. Pitney Bowes is one of only 11 firms that has earned the honor for eight years in a row.

"This honor is a testament to the success we have in balancing how we serve our stakeholders and fulfill our social and environmental responsibilities," said Murray Martin, president and chief operating officer of Pitney Bowes. "Our corporate responsibility is reflected in our strategic development in diversity, community affairs, governance, and employee relations."

The ten other companies sharing this honor include: Intel, Timberland, Starbucks, Herman Miller, Cisco, Southwest Airlines, Cummins, Ecolab, Brady Corp., and St. Paul Travelers.

The universe of companies considered for the list encompasses U.S. firms in the Russell 1000, the S&P 500, and the Domini 400 Social Index. These firms are ranked on their performance in eight stakeholder categories: shareholders, community, governance, diversity, employees, environment, human rights, and product. Social scores use KLD's assessment of "strengths" and "concerns" demonstrated in each category. The shareholder score is based on the three-year average total return (stock appreciation plus dividends) through year-end 2006. Pitney Bowes ranks 27 on this year's list.
