Company Cultivates Sustainable Model of Corporate Diversity
STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 1, 2009--
Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI)
today announced that it has been named one of the ‘40 Best Companies for
Diversity’ by Black Enterprise magazine for a fifth consecutive
year. The company’s recognition on this prestigious list is based on its
extensive supplier
diversity program and the number of African Americans and other
ethnic minority groups represented on its Board
of Directors and in senior management positions. This is one of many
awards bestowed on the company this year for its leadership in
cultivating a sustainable
model of corporate diversity.
“Pitney Bowes is honored to again be recognized as a champion in
creating a diverse and inclusive workforce,” said Susan Johnson, vice
president, Strategic
Talent Management and Diversity Leadership, Pitney Bowes Inc. “At
Pitney Bowes, our diverse talent and inclusion strategy is designed to
generate a pipeline of diverse talent and development of early-in-career
talent. We understand that our greatest asset is a diverse workforce,
which influences the innovation
and success of our business while attracting the best and the brightest
talent as an employer of choice.”
Pitney Bowes has a long history of leadership in cultivating a diverse
and inclusive workforce. Today, integrated diversity and talent
development initiatives transcend the organization. For example, the
Strategic Talent Management division recently completed a webinar series
on leadership capabilities and talent strategies for women within the
organization.
In addition, Pitney Bowes consistently communicates with employees on
the importance of nurturing a diverse and inclusive work environment
with an emphasis on living the company’s values and a learning and
development program focused on effective and appropriate behaviors for
leaders and employees. Other initiatives include awards for outstanding
achievement in diversity, an annual diversity festival, and new employee
orientations that include a formal diversity message, among others.
The company’s diverse workforce and strategy received recognition
earlier this year from Diversity Business magazine as one of
‘America’s Top Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities’; Diversity
MBA magazine as a ‘Top 50 Companies for Diverse Managers to Work’;
and Savoy Professional magazine as a ‘Top 100 Companies to Work
For’. In addition, Karen Cavalloro, area director, Pitney Bowes
Management Services, was named a “Top 100 under 50” emerging leader by Diversity
MBA magazine.
