Pitney Bowes Named a Top Supplier of Logistics Management Solutions By ARC
Company also ranked as a leading supplier of supply chain execution software
in North America
STAMFORD, Conn., June 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI) today announced that its Distribution Solutions division has been named one of the top five leading suppliers of logistics management solutions, according to a Supply Chain Execution (SCE) worldwide outlook study by ARC Advisory Group. The SCE market rollup study incorporated data from several other studies including data on transportation management systems (TMS).
"The ARC study states that transportation management systems for discrete industries are on track to be the fastest growing area in the supply chain management application," said Johanna Boller, director of product management. "Pitney Bowes is in a great position to tap into this growing market with our current customer base and our powerful multi-carrier order processing and shipment management system, PB TMS. We also help organizations of all sizes maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of their mail and shipping operations and deliver unique solutions that enable businesses to better leverage these processes to drive growth."
ARC attributed Pitney Bowes' strength in the supply chain execution area to its large share of parcel shipping software market, with software installed at more than 13,000 sites. It also referenced the company's reputation, stability and financial strength as assets.
In addition, Pitney Bowes was listed as the number three supplier of supply chain execution solutions in North America. According to the ARC study, North America is the prime region for the purchase of off-the-shelf SCE solutions, buying 58 percent of all systems worldwide. The company also was listed as the number two, Tier 3 SCE provider in the world. Tier 3 customers are defined as those customers with annual revenues under $250 million.
"As supply chains become more distributed, achieving operational excellence in transportation management is critical, hence the continued demand for TMS," said Adrian Gonzalez, director of logistics executive council at ARC. "Historically, companies have focused primarily on ground transportation, particularly less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload (TL) shipments. But as global sourcing continues to grow and shipment sizes decrease, the role of global trade management and parcel shipping solutions will become increasingly important. Considering Pitney Bowes' long history and success in parcel shipping, the company is well positioned to address the demands of the market."
The ARC report is prepared each year to provide strategic information to industry executives responsible for planning, marketing, sales and development of their company's products.
Pitney Bowes was also listed as a leading company in the discrete manufacturing, distribution and retail industry sectors.
