Pitney Bowes Office Systems Introduces Model 3400 High-Volume Fax System
TRUMBULL, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 2000--Pitney Bowes Office Systems recently introduced the Model 3400 high-volume facsimile machine, the latest addition to the company's family of multifunction desktop devices.
The new affordable multi-function device with copy, print and scanning options is designed to meet medium-size workgroups' demands for increased productivity and multi-functionality. The Model 3400 offers a wide array of facsimile functions, as well as laser printing and convenience copying.
"We've taken convenience to a whole new level," said Dennis Roney, president, Pitney Bowes Office Systems. "We listened to what our customers were asking for, and we responded to their needs by introducing the 3400. This is another example of our commitment to providing the whole range of hardware, software and service that our customers depend on."
With the Model 3400, one system can accommodate an office's fax, print and convenience copy requirements. The feature-rich 3400 maximizes productivity with a sleek new control panel that makes advanced functions quicker and easier to use than ever before. Designed with the most advanced fax software in the industry, the Model 3400 performs multiple tasks simultaneously, without interruption. The system scans documents into memory at less than 2 seconds per page and dials the destination number. Once connected, the

33.6K modem begins sending while the system continues to load the document. The Model 3400 also features fax-in-hand dialing, so that the user can refer to the cover page (with the fax number) before placing the document in the tray.
Pitney Bowes Model 3400 cont'd The Model 3400 has a 1,300 page memory, allowing multiple jobs to be queued. Users experience minimal waiting time and can return to more productive work. With the option of a second 33.6K modem, the system can be programmed to send and receive jobs simultaneously.
With a print speed of 10 pages per minute, the Model 3400 is one of the fastest systems available in its class. Laser technology and high-resolution printing (600 dpi) deliver superior print quality, so that documents can be printed on bond paper or letterhead. The Model 3400 can even be used as a printer for local or network access.
By using the Model 3400 as a shared resource, enterprises can streamline operations and eliminate the redundancy of owning and maintaining multiple systems. This translates into less training, easier setup and one-step replenishment of supplies.
The Model 3400 also includes a wide range of sophisticated document management functions. Once stored in memory, pages can be accessed for later retrieval or printing. Remote dial-in lets employees in satellite locations or on the road retrieve pages stored in the machine's memory. And the polling function provides fax-back capabilities, allowing external users to request documents directly from the Model 3400. Sales organizations, customer service providers and businesses with multiple locations can save time and money by enabling users to retrieve frequently updated material on an as-needed basis.
With confidential mailboxes, the Model 3400 can be used for restricted access, so that only authorized recipients can retrieve or print private documents. Legal, financial and other highly secure operations can rest assured that sensitive materials will not be viewed by unauthorized users or passersby.
Other features of the Model 3400 include:
-
50-page document feeder
