Pitney Bowes Works With Station Casinos To Deliver a Knock-out Punch
STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2000--
In a City Known for Casinos, Great Entertainment and World Class Sporting Events Station Casino Wins With Pitney Bowes' DocuMatch(TM) Integrated Mail System
As a professional boxing referee, Mitch Halpern mixes it up with the sport's top contenders - Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya and the like.
One could say his role in the ring is that of a quality control agent - enforcing rules, preserving the integrity of the sport and protecting the fighters. Outside of the ring, he serves in a similar capacity as director of mailing services for Las Vegas-based Station Casinos Inc. He heads the company's direct mail operation and is charged with ensuring that its mailings meet specifications for accuracy, timeliness and cost efficiency - a job that is greatly simplified with Pitney Bowes' DocuMatch(TM) Integrated Mail System in his corner.
In June 1999, Station Casinos opened its new Direct Mail Center, bringing production and control of its massive direct mail effort in-house. Like most "locals" casinos, Station has always relied heavily on direct mail campaigns to reach its customers. "When you send out mailers with giveaways and incentives, it's good for business," Halpern points out.
Before June, Halpern said the process of producing and coordinating mailings was "disjointed." "What we had was an old-world mail house operation." Each of Station's five Las Vegas properties relied on a different third-party mail house to coordinate its direct mail pieces. "Now, our entire operation is under one roof and all our projects can be produced much quicker, cheaper and better," according to Halpern.
Accuracy and timeliness are musts in the highly competitive casino industry. With Pitney Bowes DocuMatch(TM) Integrated Mail Systems, Station's performance has improved across the board. Two to three-day productions are now turned around in 24 hours with 100 percent accuracy. "We're showing a significant savings with DocuMatch, compared to what we were paying before. We should see a real return on investment in less than a year."
A splintered, pricey process is now a fluid, sophisticated operation. As a result of DocuMatch's superior performance, Station's increased its mailing volume and frequency; sending out three or more mailings a week. Mailings for all of Station's Las Vegas properties are coordinated by Halpern's team and nine DocuMatch units. "There's really nothing else on the market like it," he said. "DocuMatch automates everything from the mailing list to coupon codes, addressing and folding. It's barcoded and matched with the recipient's name in a single pass." But, in addition to boosts in productivity and decreased costs, there's and unexpected perk: The new system has been extremely good for employee morale. "My team loves being on the cutting edge. This isn't some humdrum mail center. DocuMatch makes it state-of-the-art."
