Pitney Bowes Office Systems Reduces Print Costs, Introduces DL370 Multi-Function Copier/Printer

TRUMBULL, Conn., Oct 1, 2001 /PRNewswire/ --

35 Page-Per-Minute Digital MFP Offers Exceptional Performance

Pitney Bowes Office Systems, Inc. today introduced the DL370, a 35 page-per-minute multi-function copier, printer, fax, and scanner. This third generation digital device enhances office productivity and lowers printing costs while offering a 20 percent price reduction from the previous digital model it replaces.

"Our larger customers have asked us to help them reduce their overall cost per print by controlling print output with minimal impact on IT systems," said Nathaniel Gifford, vice president, Product Development and Marketing, Pitney Bowes Office Systems. "We accomplish this by reducing the number of devices, migrating output to the lower cost per print device, and creating electronic versions of hard copy documents wherever possible. The DL370 represents our latest generation of digital products which is responsive to customer requirements and utilizes high speed scanning, plug-and-play print functionality, and Internet/network fax transmission."

The Scan to E-mail feature allows users to E-mail scanned documents as attached files. The documents are converted into digital files that can quickly and easily be sent electronically to multiple E-mail addresses. This expedites communications, reduces the number of prints, increases productivity and reduces overall costs.

The Scan to File feature allows users to transmit a scanned document to a specified folder. Users can quickly convert documents to PDF or TIFF formats, allowing easy integration into most document management software packages.

Plug-and-play capability makes network installation as easy as installing a network laser printer. By replacing a network printer with the DL370, users will add full walk-up copying capabilities, can reduce supply costs, and increase functionality with a wide range of features such as duplexing, collating, two or three hole punching, and multiple position stapling. The unit supports industry standards PCL6, PostScript(R)3, ASCII, TIFF, PDF and JPEG, all Windows(R) and Macintosh(R) operating systems, as well as Novell(R) NetWare(R) and Microsoft(R) Windows NT(R) networks.

Internet/network fax -- Users can send a fax as an E-mail message with one touch, transmitting it to the receiver's E-mailbox through their corporate network. This gives the receiver the ability to view the document before deciding whether or not to print it. Internet fax enables customers to further reduce the cost of document delivery by eliminating phone charges.

Availability:

Immediately available, the DL370 starts at $7,295. Additionally, a choice of competitively priced print controllers, a wide range of finishing options, and dual line 33.6 Kbps fax are available. For information, call 1-800-290-7860 or visit the company Web site at http://www.pitneybowes.com.
