Pitney Bowes, NBA Team Up for Literacy

NBA Cares Reading Rallies Visit Three Schools

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2007--Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI) and the National Basketball Association have joined forces to promote literacy for elementary school children in the city that is hosting this year's NBA All-Star Game on February 18.

The Pitney Bowes-sponsored NBA Cares Reading Rallies will visit three Las Vegas elementary schools today: Robert Lake, William E. Ferron, and Laura Dearing. At each school, a group of players from the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), local celebrities, NBA Legends and Pitney Bowes executives will host an assembly to get students excited about reading, and then participate in small-group reading sessions with the students to tip off the NBA Cares Community Caravan.

"Our focus on literacy and education makes this a natural fit for our philanthropic programs," said Pitney Bowes Vice President of Small Business and Postal Solutions Ian Siveyer. "We are very excited to work with the NBA on this exciting opportunity, and we look forward to further collaboration as the season builds toward the NBA playoffs later this year."

As part of the company's participation in the Reading Rallies, NBA Cares and Pitney Bowes are making a donation of $3,000 to each school to enhance its library collection. Ferron Elementary, which serves local visually-impaired students, is receiving an additional $1,000 worth of National Braille Press books. These donated books are marked with a special book plate also contributed by Pitney Bowes.

Later in the week, a team of Pitney Bowes volunteers will join members of the NBA Family in building a home for a Las Vegas family in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity International, Siveyer said.

The Pitney Bowes-NBA Cares Reading Rallies are the first of more than 20 NBA Cares events taking place throughout Las Vegas this week, the highest number of NBA Cares events ever held for any All-Star.
