Pitney Bowes Moves 170 Jobs to Troy, New York

Expansion Includes 50 New Jobs For Capital District

TROY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 2007--Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI) today announced it is moving 170 jobs into the Pitney Bowes Software (formerly MapInfo) facility located at One Global View. Approximately 120 of the jobs are relocating from a Pitney Bowes site in Colonie, New York, and the remainder are new positions.

The jobs relocating from Colonie include positions in local sales and service of Pitney Bowes products, as well as corporate finance and other functions. The new jobs are all in corporate finance, handling billing controls, accounts receivable, and lease administration.

"When we acquired MapInfo earlier this year, we saw an opportunity not only to add a jewel of a company to our business portfolio, but also to gain access to modern facilities and a talented labor pool that could help us meet many business needs. Due to the thorough support of Senator Joseph Bruno and Rensselaer County, Pitney Bowes is able to bring these additional jobs to the area. This expansion in Troy reflects our enthusiasm for the Capital District," said Russell Hochman, vice president of global government relations at Pitney Bowes.

"We are delighted to welcome our new colleagues from Pitney Bowes to Troy," said Mike Hickey, president of Pitney Bowes MapInfo and incoming chairman of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce. "It's a great vote of confidence in the region that a Fortune 500 company wants to establish deeper roots here."

"We work hard to make the Capital District an attractive place for companies to invest and create jobs," said State Sen. Joseph Bruno. "Pitney Bowes is a marquee name that not only validates our efforts, but also makes it easier to entice other companies to consider relocation or expansion here."

In partnership with Pitney Bowes, Rensselaer County has offered performance tax incentives based on the company's job creation efforts, sales and use tax exemptions, a possible payment in lieu of taxes agreement for real property taxes on the existing building; and potential reimbursement for training costs of employees. Finally, the County intends to support the company's Empire Zone certification, which could result in New York State income tax credits for the company.

"We are very excited about working with Pitney Bowes to bring new jobs and growth to Rensselaer County," said County Executive Kathleen Jimino. "This announcement is further evidence of the global competitiveness of our local work force. This is community-sensitive economic development at its best."

Pitney Bowes MapInfo currently employs approximately 300 people at the Troy site, which has 210,000 square feet located on four floors.
