Pitney Bowes` Polly O`Brien Honored With Fourth Annual Humanitarian Award from Catholic Family Services

    Award recognizes lifelong Stamford resident as "Ambassador of
    Service to Humanity"

(NYSE: PBI) today announced that Polly O'Brien, Pitney Bowes Director of Community Affairs, was honored with the 1999 Ambassador of Service to Humanity Award from Catholic Family Services, an office of Catholic Charities of Fairfield County and a United Way Agency. The award, presented during a breakfast ceremony at The Stamford Marriott, honored Ms. O'Brien for her lifelong commitment to the greater Stamford community.

Ms. O'Brien, a lifelong Stamford resident, has demonstrated a commitment to community outreach and volunteerism through her work as Director of Community Affairs for Pitney Bowes, as well as through her leadership with a number of non-profit organizations. She currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Points of Light Foundation's National Council on Workplace Volunteerism, as Chairman of the Board of the Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County, and as President of the Fairfield County Contributions Group. She also currently serves on the board of CTE, Keep Stamford Beautiful, and as a member of the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk. In addition, she has been a champion for revitalization of Stamford's South End through her work on national award-winning neighborhood clean-ups and with the South End Neighborhood Revitalization Zone.

CFS has served the greater Stamford area for more than 60 years. Its programs include individual, group and family therapy, psychiatric evaluations, adoption, Right to Know, education and parenting support group, Hispanic Outreach, Intensive Outreach and Monitoring of at-risk youth, and pregnancy counseling.
