Pitney Bowes Office Systems Launches Economical, Compact Multifunctional Fax/Copier/Printer Solution
TRUMBULL, Conn., May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Pitney Bowes Office Systems today introduces the DL170, a compact multifunctional fax/copy/print device. Printing at 17 pages-per-minute, this new workhorse efficiently handles varying applications, making it ideal for small to mid-size companies with limited space.
"With increasing demand, platen-based systems have emerged as the tool of choice for companies looking to avoid the extra costs of separate devices," stated Dennis Roney, president, Worldwide Sales and Customer Marketing, Pitney Bowes Office Systems. "As a standalone or network solution, the DL170's small footprint fits the demanding space, budget, and performance requirements of today's businesses. And with 17 pages-per-minute print speed, the DL170 targets the growing small shared workgroup segment."
The DL170 is first and foremost an outstanding facsimile system. Its high-speed Automatic Document Feeder holds up to 50 pages, a huge time-saver for large fax applications. It is even possible to combine documents scanned from the flatbed and automatic document feeder into the same job. With a 33.6 Kbps modem and JBIG data compression, the DL170 transmits at 2.8 seconds-per-page, presently the fastest possible over analog phone lines, helping to reduce users' telephone charges. The DL170 is also equipped with a dial-while-scan feature to enhance speed. By dialing the fax recipient as soon as the first page is scanned, users do not have to wait until all pages are scanned before the transmission begins.
With 8-MB of memory (approximately 650 pages) that can be upgraded to 32 MB, the DL170 allows users to transmit up to 230 locations without running out of memory and enables other cost saving features found on high-end fax machines such as Batch Transmit. A fast 1.7 seconds-per-page Quick Scan allows multiple outgoing fax documents to be queued in memory, freeing users to do more productive tasks. Sophisticated fax users recognize that building regular distribution lists and pre-storing frequently used numbers eliminates misdialing and prevents users from inadvertently directing a document to the wrong location. To facilitate this, the DL170 comes standard with a 200-number autodialer that stores up to 55 one-touch and 145 speed dial numbers.
As a copier, the DL170 offers helpful copy features including Text, Text & Photo, and Photo modes for copies that are faithful to the original, and 600-dpi resolution for professional high quality output. Another strength of the Energy Star-compliant DL170 is its versatile paper handling ability. This multifunctional product (MFP) offers a standard 500-sheet paper cassette that holds letter, legal and half-letter size paper and a handy 50-sheet bypass tray for envelopes, transparences, postcards, labels and other non-standard media. An additional 500-sheet paper cassette can be added for a maximum paper supply of 1,050 sheets from three sources.
Pitney Bowes' PCL Printer Option enables the DL170 to connect to a PC via a bi-directional parallel port, turning the unit into a powerful 17 page-per-minute, 600 dpi PC printer for applications compatible with Windows 2000, NT, 98, 95, 3.1 and MS-DOS. The PCL Printer Option also enables 400 dpi scanning of hardcopy documents (text, graphics, etc.) to a PC through the high-speed parallel connection. Compatible with most TWAIN-compliant Windows software packages, users can choose the scanning functions that best suits their needs. Because the DL170 can be connected to a network, companies can leverage the benefits of the MFP to all employees to achieve greater office productivity and save money by diverting print streams to more efficient devices. The DL170 can also be integrated onto a network and is compatible with Windows(R)2000/NT/Novell(R) Netware(R). So now, a single system can support an office's fax, copy, print, and scan requirements, with just one set of consumables, one maintenance agreement, one electrical connection, one network connection, and one footprint.
